What is a guild?
A guild is a place in Neopia where neopians can chat privately, similar to the NeoBoards. They're created by Neopets users, and have fun, sometimes neopets related themes. Some guilds have activitites, guild web sites and more.
Guild vocabulary
Some terms used with the term Guild can be confusing, here's a little vocabulary lesson.
Neopets style.
Guild webbie- Website or neopets petpage that has rules, activitites etc. about a guild.
Activities- Fun activities that don't reward przes, and are just for fun!

Motm-Member of the month
Sub-Council- A council that you create after the actual council is full. (Optional)
Starting a guild
Starting a guild can be fun, yet it can be a big responsibility. Why is it a responsiblilty? Starting a guild means that if you want a successful guild (which may be why you started the guild), you must be an active guild leader. No one really want a guild leader who is barely on neopets, or doesn't post on the guild's message post. If you can't handle this small responsibility, then maybe you should join a guild :)
Creating your guild
So, you've made it this far. Now it's time to create you guild! *Cheering and claps suddenly start* Click here to bring you to the Guild Headquarters. Here, click on 'Create New' to create your guild.
Choose the neighbourhood you want your guild to be in. But, choose one you really want, because you can't change what world your guild is in. But here's a little advice for choosing.Choose a guild neighbourhood that is not crowded,or over-loaded, but snug. This way, people can find your guild easier.
Now, after choosing your guild neighbourhood, choose a guild name. Try something that is catchy. And that goes wth the theme you intend to create for you guild. But, don't do anything that is against TNT's rules.
Don't type anything inappropriate, or politically related. Now just create your guild!
Guild Appearance
Every guild has to have a nice appearance! Not too bight, not too dull, (unless the theme is the Grey Faerie of course) and not too confusing. Something that reflects your personality, something that isn't against TNT's rules, and something will attract new visitors! Go to your guild homepage, and look under "Admin,"
Now click Guild layout, and than click Guild preferences. Now, it's time to change your guild layout. Now's the time to choose your guild theme. Think it through though. You can always change it, but some of the guild members that joined may leave your guild. Choose a theme that you like. Maybe you want an adoption center guild. Or maybe a role-play guild. You're guild doesn't have to be neopets related. Now, browse a few sites (*Cough cough* Sweet-Neo *Cough cough*) and choose your layout. Or maybe you can make your layout. Copy and paste the layout code into the 'Welcome Message' box.
Now it's time to change your color scheme. This is what colors you should use with your layout, which is often provided by wherever you got your layout. But if it isn't, or you don't won't to use the one provided, just use your own! Sometimes it's a good idea to make the color scheme match your layout. Make it unique though. But, if you don't think you can "create" your own color scheme, you can always choose a preset color scheme. Click preview to see a, well, preview of your color scheme.
Now, it would be a good idea to edit the text where you're supposed to. Not the coding of the layout, the areas where the text is supposed to be. Be original! Have fun with it. Create guild activities. Do a Member of the month. Which is exactly that. Member of the month. Don't click 'Submit Changes' yet. You may want to keep reading.
Guild Dont's
There is quite alot of guild no no's. Here's a large list of most of them.
1) Don't use the words contest(s) or prize(s) in your guild. If the monitors pick up on this, they will most likely send you a warnin, or they CAN delete your guild. Can.
2) Don't create a guild that is related to political issues. This will probably get your guild deleted, and possibly your account being suspened. POSSIBLY frozen.
3) MUST READ. Don't do giveaways/contests. They are against the rules!!
4)Don't put the first few guild members that join onto the council. Wait for them to become active, post a few messages on the guild message board. Wait for them to prove to you that they can be on the council.
5) Don't give out Admin powers. Admin powers are the abilities to change the layout, delete the guild, create a guild poll, the rank of fellow guild members, etc. Not everyone can be trusted with these powers. Especially the "Delete Guild" power.
6) If a guild member is not active, you should send them a short but sweet neomail kindly asking them to be more active. Tell them that you are the guild leader, and you will lower their guild rank if they are not active. If they haven't been on neopets in weeks, or even months, sometimes it's a good idea to remove the guild member from the guild.Permanately. Just go to Guild members under Admin.Click on the member's username. Then click 'Delete Member.'
7) If a guild member is posting iappropriate text on the message board, or talking about the guild badly, or even advertsing another guild on your message board, you can block that person from the guild. But you can unblock them if you want to. Just go to Guild members under Admin, click the guild member's name, and click 'Block member.' This will block them permanately though. They cannot re-join. So, if you want to let this person re-join later, click 'Suspend Member.'
Guild Webbie
Most guilds have guild webbies. These are guild websites, or pet pages, that you display your guilds rules, member of the month, activities, sub-council, and more. These are optional. If you do decide you want one, here's the basics of what you need to do.
A guild webbie needs a nice layout. Most people use their neopet's pet pages as the webbie. Just click 'My account' on the navigation bar. From there, click the option where you can edit you're neopet's pet pages.(Try saying that three times fast!) All you need is a good layout. *Cough Cough* Sweet-Neo *Cough cough*. You know the drill. Just edit the text where you're supposed to, and no inappropriate text!
Advertsing your guild
This is how you can successfully get members to join your guild. Advertising. It's pretty simple. Send a guild invite to your neofriends. Maybe they need a guild. Another way to advertise is to make an advertisement. Include some of the good things about your guild. What activties it has, if it has council spots available. Maybe it has kind friendly members (It hopefully does!) Maybe it has a guild webbie. Maybe it has more coming soon. Or a sub-council. Here's an example:
